Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was born on March 10 1949. She is an American investor as well as a speaker and consultant. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage she established. NRT purchased it for $66 million in 2001. Corcoran later left the business. Corcoran is one of ABC's original Shark investors has been part of every episode of Shark Tank. Corcoran has signed 53 deals until February of 2020. Her biggest deal was her investment of $350,000 in Coverplay for 40%. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second child of ten from a working-class Irish Catholic family. Florence, her mother was an errand-taker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was a mover between jobs and the next throughout Corcoran's early years. Her family sometimes relied on the free food delivery from a nearby supermarket. Corcoran recalls her father as someone who would drink sometimes and did not treat her mother with respect. Corcoran was a struggling pupil throughout her schooling. Corcoran later found out that she was dyslexic. Corcoran began high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after attending a Catholic elementary school. Corcoran dropped a few classes during her first year and transferred to Leonia High School where she was a D student.
